Project Update: Karma Yoga Project
Many of you are aware that we have donated a website and hosting to the Karma Yoga Project. The Karma Yoga Project is dedicated to improving children's lives both locally and globally. They are partnered with Beyond the Orphanage, and next month Donna Helm-Yost will be traveling with Beyond the Orphanage to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to continue the assistance and study of the long-term effectiveness that is provided to the orphans both physiologically and emotionally. The goal is to build a better tomorrow by investing in the children of today. Everyone at Cloud Nine Labs wishes Donna a safe travel and the best of luck.

Web Launch: 2 Design Group
Christine Moritz and Trisha Fotsch approached Cloud Nine requesting a very minimalist - sheik concept for their Interior Design Company based out of Chicago, IL. The idea was to create gallery based site that will allow the user easily navigate between services and visually isolate each image of their portfolio and most importantly: not be overwhelmed. Textual information was kept to a minimum and images have been carefully selected so users will understand and be enticed, but ultimately encouraging a phone call in to further explore their award winning interior design services.

Effective representation is a political initiative designed to facilitate discussion and analyze overall elected accountability as well as various bills/amendments and movements. The idea is to remain politically neutral in order to facilitate the needs of all parties and as a result, a strong and memorable yet neutrally themed identity has been created. Cloud Nine will also be developing the Effective Representation web interface.

Industry Disappointment: Montreals New Logo
Wow! 2 Years development time and 487,000.00 Canadian dollars ($468,850.00 US) went into the creation of the new Montreal Logo (not the thumbs down but the “M” thing between them). Everyone at Cloud Nine is scratching their heads and perhaps even their eyes but that reaction doesn't seem all that different from citizens of Montreal. Boasting a 5% approval rating makes it clear that not just anyone can create beautiful and effective web and graphic art. Their website isn't horrible but surely it is not worth the 4 million or so they dropped on it! We'd sure love to see the user research and case studies done on all of this!

By the way Montreal, you commission a logo where you have 2 years to make integration plans and it even doesn't show on your current website? Oh Canada...OY!

New Graphic Art: “Finally Free”
This piece represents the final draft of a new era of Cloud Nine digital art. A combination of photography, 3D, hand drawn and digital effects have been combined to create a thoughtful, elegant and perhaps slightly somber yet liberating setting. Ian, the Cloud Nine Creative lead is the artist and received inspiration from “inner feelings and perhaps at one time, wishful thinking”. Due to the personal nature of this piece he has authorized only 9 full size print versions to be created and no digital rights to be distributed.
